  Skimming walls in hall/stairs/landing and redecorating.

  Plaster finish and decoration carried out to high standard. My only complaint would be I had specified the paint I wanted to use in the job description, and expected it to be included in the cost, but when the contractor arrived they hadn't bought it and had to go and get it at additional cost. They also couldn't get one of the paints I wanted so had to buy similar colour paint.

  Fitting laminate in lounge, hall, landing and bedroom.

  Really neatly cut laminate and scotia - certainly much better than our amateur attempt 10 years ago!;-) Started at 0730 and worked solidly. Very clean and tidied up after themselves. Moved some large furniture for us. Liam and Cam were really courteous and friendly.

  Painting outside of house

  JNK gave us a start date, and programme, and kept to it. They kept us informed with progress and let us know if they weren't going to be on site due to the weather. The prep work and the finished job are excellent. Would highly recommend.

  Kitchen leak repair

  I had installed a tap but had noticed a slow leak. I posted a job on CheckATrade and was contacted by Joe almost immediately, I had not realised that I had used him before, and he arranged for Dean to come round. He gave an indicative time and when he didn't make it he apologised and called shortly afterwards. The leak was quickly fixed and the job was reasonably priced.

  Joe quickly contacted me and arranged for Dean to come round. He gave an indicative team that Dean expected to be here but was unfortunately delayed by an hour. When he arrived he quickly identified the problem and sorted it. Very reasonably priced work.

  Fitting bathroom vanity unit.

  Gave me a complete break down in cost. Kept me informed about progress and made recommendations but left it entirely in my hands whether I acted upon them. Installation was left neat and tidy.

  Recovering 1930s sofa with selected fabric.

  The quality of finished work was excellent and options were discussed in terms of filling for the cushion and type of feet. Date for collection and delivery were discussed (two different locations) and collection happened on time. Had to phone to confirm date for delivery and this was delayed because they found additional work was required. While I was happy for the additional work to be done - because you never know what your going to find when stripping old furniture - i would have preferred to be told before the date of delivery because I had already arranged collection of other sofa.

  Needed a sundial moved.

  After a brief misunderstanding about how Chekatrade worked we arranged for the sundial to be removed. There were problems with traffic which meant I couldn't be on site but Andrei was. I only expected the sundial to be detached from the patio but Andrei went above and beyond and not only detached it but also brought it to my home address. Could not recommend him more highly for his commitment.

  Reported water leak

  Dean thoroughly investigated and established there was no leak on our side of the boundary. I was away from home but he clearly explained what he had done and what I needed to tell the Water Board.
