  Overpriced plumbers

  A plumber came out initially, attempted a repair, and charged £144 — yet the issue was not resolved. I then had to call another plumber from Mayfair Plumbers, who identified the problem and charged a further £396 simply to install a new union and washer. This should absolutely not have cost £540 in total for such a straightforward job. The situation was mishandled from start to finish and for the inconvenience of the job being done badly on the first visit the charges were completely disproportionate. Extremely disappointing experience — I feel I was seriously overcharged.

  Ricky from Mayfair plumbers did an excellent job explaining what new parts I needed and tidied as he went. my only slight issue was a specially booked for between 8 and and 1pm but he did not arrive until 2pm

  Misunderstanding?

  I explained to the lady from Mayfair plumbingwho called me about the job that I would like a new set of pipes fitted under the sink which was also what I wrote oncheckatrade and that the system in the current ones was not working. The gentleman cleaned some stuff out from the outlet pipe and put the current pipes back (which I hadn’t completely realised at the time as I was very preoccupied with something else) until after he left and whilst the system works it won’t work for long and I will be back to square one which was why I asked for the plumber to come in the first place.

  Company could improve communication

  Very efficient and extremely helpful gentleman carried out the work. With regards to the company I would strongly recommend that if you pay the call out charge of £144 you make sure the work can be carried out in the first hour. I needed to order parts so the first visit lasted no more than 15 minutes; I then had to pay another payment of £144 to have the parts fitted. The company's communication leaves a little to be desired, as I had to phone them on numerous occasions to determine when the plumber would be returning to complete the job. Personally I would look for a local company if poss.
