  Suspected rising dzmp

  I suspected that our utility room had rising damp, so invited several companies to look and advise. Others did so and gave quotes for thousands of pounds. This surveyor thought that the problem was far more likely to have been caused by our washing machine, which had been leaking. He advised using a dehydrator to rid the room of the water which had leaked. I was impressed that he did not try to get me to agree to expensive and unnecessary work. I would definitely recommend this company.

  Washing machine flooding utility room

  Our washing machine suddenly started flooding the floor. Dan was able to attend within a day or so. He arrived when he said he would, quickly identified the problem and fixed it. He is helpful and friendly, and his charges are reasonable.

  Redecorate sitting room

  Our sitting room was in need of redecorating. We got several quotes, and decided to go with JNK. Kev did an excellent job. He turned up promptly each day and just got on with it. He is friendly and reliable and has left the room looking very much better.

  Quickly fixed a malfunctioning shower

  We'd been unable to move the temperature control on a shower, so arranged with Dan to come and look at it. He turned up at the agreed time, and quickly got the control unstuck and so the shower is now working OK again. As it only took him a few minutes, he reduced the agreed charge by half. We will certainly call on hime next time we need a plumber, and would recommend him to anyone.

  Water seeping up from bathroom floor

  The plumber arrived at the agreed time, and quite quickly identified the cause of the problem. He needed to go to get a part, but did so quickly and got the whole job complete within 2 hours. He was friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend MLW.

  Fix problem with TV reception

  We've been having problems with the picture on the TV breaking up, and some channels have become unavailable. Colin came at the agreed time, diagnosed the problem and recommended a new aerial. We agreed and he did the installation straight away. He was friendly and polite. The price was very reasonable. The reception is now excellent.

  Replacement of some old fencing

  We wanted to replace about 20 feet or so of old falling down fence. We requested quotes of a number of fencing companies. Steve came within a day or so, and soon after came up with a reasonable quote. He and one other guy arrived promptly this morning, got straight on with the job, and finished before lunchtime. Both were friendly, and we are pleased with the outcome.

  Painting kitchen

  Christian had already fitted our kitchen, but we had not realised that he also paints. When we found out, we asked him to paint our kitchen walls. He did a great job. He is meticulous, and is not satisfied with anything less than perfect. He is also very hard working.

  Kitchen installation

  We got Christian in to install our Homebase kitchen. He, assisted by his wife, did an excellent job. They stripped out the old units and gas oven, removed the tiles and arranged for someone to come in the cap the gas. They installed the new units and the new electric oven, hob and cooker hood. The latter required him to run new cabling from the fuse box into the kitchen. They worked each day from about 8:30. Supposedly they finished at 4:30, but most days they worked much longer. Christian consulted us whenever needed, and offered useful advice. We would definitely recommend them.

  Install a stopcock

  We (and our surveyor) have been unable to find a stopcock in our recently purchased house, so we thought one needed to be installed. Charlie visited this afternoon, and almost straight away found a panel behind which was a stopcock. He would not accept any payment.
