    Top class clearance service

    In July this year I engaged Simon to remove a large, rotting garden shed that was very overgrown with brambles and ivy. This shed was in my back garden to which access is very restricted. Simon and his colleague arrived on the day agreed, and worked hard, methodically, and tidily to remove the shed, its contents, and the brambles and ivy. They did a very good job surprisingly quickly, and left the cleared area neat and clean. I would be happy to recommend them

    A great service, the guy I spoke to was very helpful, professional and friendly. Organised a collection of some Scrap Metal I had in my garden, as mentioned they were really helpful and organised to collect the metal the next day. A great company would definitely recommend.

    Excellent Service

    Excellent service. I needed a 20 foot container container full of old household goods no longer clearing completely as I live in South East Asia. South Downs Clearance visited the site and quoted a fair price for the clearance. The container was then emptied the following day. I can certainly recommend this small company. End to end process was very straight forward and no problem at all.

    Rubbish clearance

    I have been using South Downs Clearance for over 5 years for clearing rubbish. I have always found Simon to be professional and very reliable. He takes great care to explain the costs involved and ensures everything is left tidy once the rubbish is cleared. I definitely recommend Simon and South Downs Clearance.

    Good reliable, quick.

    can’t recommend this company highly enough! They came to the rescue on very short notice to help clear out a house, and they handled everything professionally from start to finish. The team was incredibly efficient, friendly. Sorted and removed everything quickly without any hassle. Just a months later I needed help again to clear a storage unit, and despite being busy, they managed to fit me in within days! Once again, the service was spot on.

We have been established in West Sussex area for over 10 years now. We started out as South Downs Antiques & Interiors in Barnham, West Sussex. Due to our sympathetic and professional approach to clearances, which were being requested from our customers, we took the decision during Autumn of 2018 to focus more on this side of the business. So, for the time being we no longer have a physical retail selling presence.

Our slogan is "We buy - We sell - We clear"

We offer a professional, friendly, sympathetic and free quotation on any residential or commercial clearance.

- Residential: house, flat, garage, garden, shed, attic, single items etc.

- Commercial: office, factory, pub, shop, container, storage etc.

- Licensed with the Environment Agency

All clearances are treated in the same manner. If we feel that any local charities or CIC companies can benefit from any of the furniture, interior items or Bric-a-Brac, then these shall be donated to them. Having dealt with number of these organisations over the years, we get to know which organisation would benefit from which items.

If there is any waste left, then this shall be disposed of at the appropriate recycling stations within the relevant county. We thrive on recycling the wood from the paper, the metal from the general etc. thus saving our planet and landfill sites.

January 2023 the Environment Agency introduced the POPS scheme. This is Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) are a group of organic compounds that have toxic properties, persist in the environment, accumulate in food chains and pose a risk to human health and the environment.

What items contain POPs?

  • Sofas.
  • Sofa beds.
  • Armchairs.
  • Kitchen and dining room chairs.
  • Stools and foot stools.
  • Home office chairs.
  • Futons.
  • Bean bags, floor and sofa cushions.

All such items now carry a surcharge upon their weight too.

Other waste items that carry a surcharge are:

  • Mattresses
  • TVs
  • Fridges / freezers
  • Tyres
