    Sash Window Restoration and Repair

    Posted 06 August

I recently had two sash windows repaired by Sam , including a full restoration of one that was in very poor condition. The work across the two windows included replacing a rotten sill, removing years of old paint, making and fitting a new timber section, replacing the putty, cords, balancing weights, and fitting new glass. The quality of the workmanship was outstanding and the windows now look fantastic. Communication was excellent throughout, always punctual and tidy, and it was clear they take great pride in their craft.

Full Grade II listed Georgian sash window renovation

    Posted 06 October 2025

I cannot recommend Sam more highly! He is hugely knowledgable & passionate about sash windows, even supplying a glossary of terms with his quote to explain carefully the intricacies of the work he carries out. The Grade II listed Georgian sash window he renovated for me was particularly delicate & rotten in places. He transformed it within a matter of a few days to the point that it is about as energy efficient as single glazed sash windows can be, especially with original 250 yr old glass panes! He’s an absolute delight to deal with too. Sam, you deserve much success in your venture!

Sam communicated very well and told me everything that he was doing and that would need to be done in future to keep the window in good condition.

    As good as new

Sam is an artisan., who takes real pride in his work. My restored sash windows now look as good as new, if not better. All work involved and costs were explained clearly before he began. He worked with care, ensuring rooms were left weather proof overnight, and dust swept up.
