Identified the source of the leak and fixed it

    Posted 2 days ago

Firstly, I appreciate the tradesperson left with a fix in place. For that, I cannot fault them and have rated them accordingly. However, I must warn others who want to employ Mayfair Plumbers that they tried to charge me £538 to identify the leak and replace a faulty isolation valve. I was quoted £99 for a call out and initial 1 hour. The trades person was with us 1 hour and 15 mins, they didn’t warn me of the cost before applying the fix. I contested the charge, as all they did was identify the leak was not from the underfloor heating and replaced a faulty valve. I only paid the £99 (+VAT).

Everything that was explained to me by Darren happened and the problem was sorted quickly and efficiently I think I should of searched for more quotes as it wasn’t cheap with the call out charge , VAT and part but I have a HIU and alot of plumbers where declining so I felt I had to go with Mayfair Plumbers as I needed hot water and Darren was very good

Identifying cause of leak and unblocking outside drain.

    Posted 5 days ago

The job was arranged promptly and professionally . The plumber who dealt with the leak was excellent and kept me updated when he was delayed and managed to sort the issue inside the hour. Nice one, Anthony. My only gripe was the failure to clarify that the full deposit would be retained, even though the job took less than 1 hour. i think this should be made clearer so customers are clear about the charging structure.

    Response from Mayfair Plumbers

We’re sorry if the one-hour minimum charge wasn’t made clear at the time of booking. We appreciate your feedback and will work to improve communication. Please note that all bookings are subject to a minimum one-hour charge at our standard rate, even if the job takes less time. This is explained during phone bookings and stated on our website. The job was completed successfully within the hour, and we’re happy to confirm your drainage system is now working as expected.

Great service, note that pumbing equipment can have expensive charges

    Posted 6 days ago

We had a drainage block leading to our kitchen sink and washing machine which was partly filled with grey water. Richard was professional and pleasant. The quoted hourly rate of £140 plus VAT seemed competitive to use for a well reviewed service. Attempts to clear the blockage with acid and WetVac were unsuccessful. That left the RIGID FlexShaft tool as the next option to do the job. This worked great and cleared the blockage, but we were told there was a £450 plus VAT charge for the machine. People should be aware of these charges and ask about these as part of quotes.

Remove and reseal the en-suite shower and hand basin

Once I had agreed the job and the price, the company emailed the name and time of arrival of the tradesman. He was professional and polite. The job was done well within 3 hours.
