  Ian came along to my parents home with ideas on how to upgrade the garden. Ian worked very hard and to a very high standard. Ian's communication was excellent and his adaptability to changes to plans was exceptional. would highly recommend.

  Repointing brickwork

  Perfect experience. Ian's work was flawless, he went through extra effort to ensure the new mortar matches the old as much as possible. He also took the time to teach me how to do the work myself and left the extra materials for any future work, if needed.

  Listed building repair

  I J Builders restored a badly frost damaged external window sill on an C18 Grade II listed building. The work was painstaking and required specialist knowledge of the materials and construction of the building. The work took a number of weeks due to the processes involved and the unreliable weather. Photographic updates were provided and the work was completed on budget. The finished work blends naturally with the rest of the building.

  Construction of perimeter wall and fence

  Ian has a wealth of skills apparent from the impressive fence he has constructed, running the entire length of our 26 metre driveway. A key quality; Ian consulted us throughout all work so far. He is a true professional, whatever the hurdle, should one arise, he will provide a solution & quality work in an agreed time frame. I cannot recommend Ian enough to anyone contemplating building work of any magnitude or description and it pleases me that not only have we a highly qualified builder to call on in the future, should the need arise, but more importantly a good friend.

  Garden landscaping

  Oz turned a scrappy, lumpy, bumpy piece of lawn into a level gravelled area with retaining wall and small patio in the middle. My from garden looks so much better, is effortless to look after and I’ve had a lot of complements from neighbours and passers-by. Oz always does what he says he’ll do - and a bit more! Always reliable! I’ve added a couple more pots and it doesn’t look quite so barren 😊
