    Helpful Damp Survey and Liaison with Tenant

    The Hillcrest Surveyor, Daniel, came to my tenanted property to advise on damp and mould. He examined the property and took damp readings and advised that the issue related to condensation brought about by the lifestyle of the tenant. He patiently explained to the tenant the changes he needed to make so that the problem won't recur and explained the science behind why there was a problem. A couple of days later, I received a helpful report outlining the issues discussed. Thank you Hillcrest for a great job!

    Damp survey

    After viewing the damp survey report I was surprised to see how basic it was. No meter readings or photos recorded to add any analysis. Only a suggestion of a dehumidifier and to increase ventilation. During the survey it was a shrug and the same explanation of “it’s physics”, as if that was going to solve the problem I was having. Complete lack of empathy, no real long term solutions and a lack of knowledge on products. I was expecting more from a survey that costs £80 and a company that is “accredited”.

We take the time to visit each client, talk through their damp issues and concerns and advise on ways to reduce damp (e.g. the introduction of dehumidifiers). In the case of structural intervention, we will talk through the options available.
