10 Fitting oak staircase

Alex did a fantastic job installing a new oak staircase to replace a rather boring and dated 1960's one. His attention to detail was excellent and I could not fault the workmanship. I would recommend the company to friends and use them again without doubt. We are delighted with the new window, which far exceeds our expectations. We left the detailed design to Alex and the end product is a perfect match with the existing windows in the house, which is 400 years old. Installation was not straightforward, as the roof above the window needed to be supported while the old window was removed and the new one fitted. Alex was very knowledgeable and efficient as well as being polite and personable. His work was to an excellent standard, nothing was too much trouble and he cleaned up after himself at the end of each day so there was no mess or dust. He diagnosed the various problems that had caused the windows to fail to operate correctly, rectified them all as well as providing good quality wood for repair of a cill and now my previously dilapidated windows and frames that hadn’t worked at all are good as new. I have been working as a carpenter and joiner for over 25 years now and in my working career I have covered many aspects of carpentry in my varied career to date.
I decided to go out as a sole trader in January 2017
As well as general carpentry and joinery, I also specialise in the refurbishment of sliding sash windows from simple sash cord replacement to refurbishment of the fabric of the window, replacing rotted sections and bringing them back to their former glory whilst removing the need for expensive replacement windows and maintaining the charm and heritage of your building. However, where required I can also manufacture complete replacement sash windows with the option of double glazing if required. I also replace and adjust spiral spring balances on more modern timber sash windows.
I cover most other aspects of carpentry from loft conversions to carports, garden buildings, bespoke built in furniture such as wardrobes, book cases (etc), cut roofs, flooring, studwork, fitted kitchens, and many other areas of work are undertaken.
I have a joinery workshop where I produce high quality bespoke doors, windows, and conservatories. Ranging from traditional sash windows to modern double glazed patio doors.
I pride myself on meticulous attention to detail and take pride in my work. I am polite and courteous and always like to leave the worksite in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
