  Expected better

  His friendliness, 35 years of experience, existing Checkatrade reviews and a competitive quote made choosing Mr Charles an easy choice. The job was to remove an old brick wall and replace with feather-edge fencing. But Mr Charles didn't take into account the unevenness of the wall - and we ended up with gravel boards that are also uneven. The unbalanced result is clearly visible. I expected better.

  New kitchen worktops

  Thomas did a small job for us - removal and fitting of the kitchen worktops. The only 'difficult' job was to cut in two counter-flap hinges into the hard, brittle laminate. He understood exactly what we wanted, his price was competitive and his workmanship? Immaculate, fastidious, precise and meticulous. In addition he was tidy, hard working, conscientious and diligent. We were exceptionally pleased with the work he did. In addition he's a personable fellow! Easy to talk to, knowledgeable, polite and (simply) a pleasure to have in our house. Absolutely, thoroughly recommended.

  Sweep chimney in 1930s semi

  Excellent. Turned up on time. Carried out the work with minimal fuss. Took extreme care to contain the dust and soot to the fireplace. We vacuumed the room after he departed but didn't pick anything up. I felt comfortable with him being in the house and certainly knows his job. Thoroughly recommended.

  This is the fourth year in succession that I've used Arboright's services. I no longer bother to get comparative quotes for the work. As ever, they turned up on time, completed the work quickly and professionally and tidied up. Perfect. Thoroughly recommended.

  Second time I've used Pattertsons as there's no point in trying to find a better company. Engineers turned up on time, were polite, clean and tidy in their work and seemed to be very thorough. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending them.

  Landlord's Gas Safety Certificate

  The appointment was made and confirmed with emails. Travelled to the tenants flat and waited for 2 hours. Phoned Whites (after an hour) and left a message. No one phoned back. Phoned again after the 2nd hour and was told my "gas check hadn't been put in the diary". They apologised. Was offered a visit later that day but had to go back to work. Another appointment made for a few days later and the work was carried out perfectly.

  Reduce 100ft of conifer hedge by 18ins and trim all sides.

  Three guys turned up promptly. Excellent work - took extra trouble to ensure the reducing and trimming was done exactly how we wanted. They all worked hard and professionally. (Just keep them supplied with tea and biscuits!) Everything neat and tidy when finished. Highly recommend Arboright.

  Yearly service of Combi boiler.

  Informed by phoned the engineer would be a little late. (He was.) Work carried out diligently and seemed to be competent at his work. Polite, clean and courteous. Would recommend Pettersons without hesitation.
