  This job was to put up a beacon for an automatic lawn mower, so a bit out of the usual run of jobs. Ross was on time with all the necessary tools and fittings to get the job done. It was at height, fitting the mast to the gable end of a double garage but that was not a problem. He worked safely supplied and fitted a sturdy bracket and took great care to ensure that the mast was truly vertical and in putting the finishing touches to the job, including a drip loon and some mastic to seal the cable entry to the wall. Recommended without hesitation.

  Destruction of a hornet nest

  I contacted Steve via Checkatrade - he had responded to my request in less than an hour. He was able to come over within 48 hours, in spite of me saying it wasn’t urgent. He was friendly and efficient, dealing with the nest in about 15 minutes (it was easily accessible) and gave good advice on how to deal with the residues. He gave me a proper receipt and I was able to pay by bank transfer. A good man to know - I’ve got his details safe for next time.

  Solved tricky plumbing problem

  This is the second time we’ve used Tom (the first was when he found an electrical fault in a pool heat pump which no one else would even look at - saved me buying a new one). In this job we wanted to fit a filling loop to our gas boiler to replace the one in the crawl-space over our lounge. Several plumbers have looked at the job and sucked through their teeth, but Tom came up with an innovative solution which he was able to finish in a couple of hours. He is now our first port of call for anything plumbing related - thoroughly recommended.

  Bulk waste removal

  I’d not used this company before and I was a bit unsure when the guy said that he could send a van and give me a price, then I could either accept or send him away. I’ve been stung by similar proposals in the past, so I was fully expecting an inflated figure. When the lads arrived I showed them the items and they offered me a very fair price so I accepted and they loaded everything cleanly and quickly and were on their way. They were open and friendly, came the day after I phoned, and were way cheaper than some of the skip prices I’ve seen. No hesitation at all in recommending them.

  Bob cleans our chimney every six months and has done for years. It’s always a pleasure to have him in the house and he does a very neat, professional job, all carefully tidied up afterwards. Excellent value for money and would recommend to anyone.

  We have used Colt for 7 years for our security and fire alarm system and they have been a pleasure to deal with. Their engineers are cheerful, friendly, efficient, tidy and very knowledgeable -always ready to help with advice or explanations. On this last visit the engineer took all the covid precautions I would have expected, and used overshoes so that he wouldn’t inadvertently mark the carpets. Full marks in all categories.
