Sadly the diagnosis for my decrepit old boiler was terminal, but the Versatile lads came around same day, assessed the issues, gave me a ballpark quote to fix them all and, agreeing it wasn't worth the cost, went ahead and made the appliance safe while I consider next steps, all for the price of their standard call out. I'll certainly be calling them in again at my new place if I have issues there.
