Double glazed wooden sash windows for Edwardian house

    Posted 04 October

We had double glazed hard wooden sash windows fitted for upstairs front windows of Edwardian terraced house. Dan did the quote and the installation work. Very high quality workmanship thank you Dan. The joiner did an excellent job matching the existing pattern of arches at the top of each window. The windows glide very smoothly. Dan cleaned up each day thoroughly. He communicated with me about timings. Overall I was very pleased with this job. Thank you!

    Replacing window locks

    Posted 18 June

The communication prior to the job was excellent. I went out to three companies and Dan was the most responsive and proactive to suggest the right locks. Unfortunately the quality of the work was problematic. One of the sash windows we can no longer open because the catch is too close to the edge and catches the other sash. Also the screws are not all driven through all the way, left poking out, and the locks are not all aligned well to the frame. A real shame. It was done in a rush and one can tell.

Response from Timber Sash Solutions Ltd

I am really disappointed to read your review, given that the work completed was exactly as quoted and agreed — fitting the window locks in the same positions as the previous ones. There was no request or charge for making the windows fully operational. In response to the photo you sent, the lock has been correctly realigned to ensure it functions properly. It was moved slightly from its original position because your previous locks were quite chunky and uPVC style, and the new ones needed to be repositioned slightly to line up correctly and operate as they should. If you’d wanted the windows restored to working condition, that would have required a lot of additional work and materials, and the cost would have been substantially more. I always aim to deliver honest and high-quality work, and it’s disheartening to receive negative feedback when everything was carried out as specified and quoted. If you wanted the windows to made operational, I’d be more than happy to provide a quote for that work.
