    Double gate supply and fit

    From the on site survey with a few practical suggestions to the final clear away, very satisfied with the supply and fit of my new double gates; metal post/frame/composite board infill and marine grade fittings. Day 1; Old gates and framing removed, site made good with removal of existing concrete post and new posts aligned and concreted in. Day 2; Delivery and fitting of new gates, all debris removed and site left tidy despite the my own work in progress in the area! Would consider this company for future work or to recommend. Great team, thank y'all.

    Amazing gate.

    Brilliant! Highly recommended. Jim came to the house, took a few measurements and very vaugue idea of our idea for a gate. He went away and shortly afterwards our amazing gate was installed.

    Excellent standard of workmanship, good service and value for money

    We commissioned the Local Wrought Iron Company to build us a new balustrade for our balcony. Jim responded to our enquiry very promptly and arranged to carry out a site visit. Jim was very friendly, courteous and made some good suggestions for our project. The standard of workmanship was excellent, the installation went very smoothy and we are extremely pleased with the finished product. We would recommend the Local Wrought Iron Company highly and would definitely consider them again in the future.

    Competitive price for quality gates!

    Local Wrought Iron company gave us a competitive price with plenty of choice of style and colour for our gates. They were fitted in good time and we’re really happy with the finished product which are also excellent quality. We would gladly recommend this company.

    Excellent service and great quality from a local company

    We have had our new gates from The Local Wrought Iron Company in place for a few months now. We remain absolutely delighted with them. The quality is excellent, far better than the cheap alternatives that can be sourced online; the price was favourable compared to other local companies offering the same service and quality. In short we feel we hit something of a sweet spot. Throughout, we were very happy with the communication and interactions we had with the company, and particularly with Jim who is a passionate craftsman. I would not hesitate to recommend the Local Wrought Iron Company.

Hello, I’m Jim Wallace, and I set up The Local Wrought Iron Company Ltd back in 2017.


I’ve always loved making things, and after 18 years working in welding and fabrication, I decided to set up on my own, creating one-off wrought iron pieces for customers who wanted something a bit special.


Over time, the business has grown, and I now have a small, trusted team helping me keep up with demand.


Everything we make is handmade to order, whether that’s Gates, Railings, Balustrades, Handrails, or Decorative Ironwork. We’re just as happy recreating an existing design as we are working from your drawings and helping you come up with something completely bespoke.



We’re based in Fareham, but despite our name, we undertake commissions for customers across Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex, Surrey, and London.



We’re new to Checkatrade, so I’ve added plenty of photos from past projects to give you a good idea of our style and workmanship, and hopefully a bit of inspiration too.
