Tried to charge me £220 for a mixer bar I found on Screwfix for £89.99 (before VAT). I was told the labour rate was £100 an hour, though the job took under 30 mins. When I asked for a breakdown, I was met with defensiveness. As a goodwill gesture, I offered to pay for the part, one hour’s labour, and VAT, but was criticised for “dictating” prices. As a young disabled woman, I just wanted clarity and understanding, however I was left very upset. The job and the plumber that came was great. Customer service terrible.
