Tony contracted to repair 4 or 5 slipped/broken slates on my roof. It was a small job to secure my home before more extensive work could be carried out at a later date.
Tony claimed to have checked the job himself. In fact, he later admited to never seeing the job, not before nor after his sub-contactors carried some 'repairs'.
In fact, his sub-contractors:
- damaged my roof and left an open hole
- they tried to glue slates using mastic
- they only looked at one tile area and ignored the rest
Despite this, Tony still insisted on payment. He never provided photos or a report of finished work
Response from Quality First Roofing And Guttering Ltd
Hi Eric,
I presume it was your wife I had been speaking with from the start. We initially agreed that five slates would be replaced for £120.
When I attended the property, my team arrived first. Two slates at the lower section were removed and replaced, as access there was safe. The two slates at the top could not be completed due to the steep pitch and unsafe ladder positioning. I made it clear that the only safe way to complete that portion of the work would be with scaffolding. When I told you about the other two Slate you begged me to fix them with a ladder So I hope you understand.
