The process went very smoothly. The machine was bigger than a domestic hoover/cleaner but easily fitted in the hall. The cleaning was done very thoroughly and efficiently - the carpet is old but it has made a big difference, eg the difference in shade where a small rug had been on the landing is not noticeable now at all. The initial cleaning when it was still damp looked ok but since it has dried after about 4 hours and then overnight it really looks so much cleaner and the dark marks at the front of the treads completely gone.
