I booked trade to diagnose a problem with extractor fan. He told me a part needed to be ordered, and I needed to pay £65 which was for job identification and doing the job. It has been a month, and I have had to chase him twice. He has failed to keep me updated but happy for me to pay him £65. His website says the payment is for call out labor charge however now he says
The call out charge was payable as the job was booked in, and the fault diagnosed and the many lines of enquiry in trying to obtain the part have been exhausted. The appliance would be deemed as irreparable.

I’ve tried to source the part for your fan, but it’s obsolete or unavailable. The £65 covers call-out, diagnosis, and time. I don’t operate a no-fix, no-fee service. A partial refund was offered. If the part was available, I’d be happy to fix it.
