  Wrong specification

  Company charged a third up front, offered a cash deal which was later changed and demanded VAT be paid on the whole project. Ignored the specification sheet provided at first meeting, inaccurate quote. Failed to involve building services despite having written instruction from day one to do so and repeated email requests which were acknowledged then ignored. Over charged for skip, work done was to wrong specification and had to be redone. Used subcontractors for almost all of the work, was not present on site after day 1. Total loss of trust.

  Our payment terms, including the deposit requirement, were clearly outlined in the original quote you accepted. These help cover upfront material and labour costs, particularly where trust is still being established. If there were concerns, we would have welcomed a discussion early on to avoid misunderstandings. The scope of work was based on the information and task list you provided. Any omissions or changes after quoting would naturally require review and adjustment. Building control is typically the client’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed at the quoting stage. As we weren’t instructed to handle it, it wasn’t included in our scope. While there was an error with the insulation initially, we identified and corrected it before the walls were closed. The material was upgraded and the issue resolved without delay to your timeline. Our team includes both employees and regular collaborators. Michael, a qualified carpenter, led the work onsite with our usual team—not random subcontractors, as suggested. We made repeated efforts to maintain respectful communication, but the tone of interactions became strained and unproductive. We’re committed to high standards and regret this project did not conclude more constructively. We wish you the best with the remainder of your build.

  I just cannot recommend MKS Carpentry and Building highly enough. This professional, well established company, with all its expertise and experience, came to the rescue when our original builder became unwell before finishing our renovation project. From assessing the work to be completed, and advising us of the best design for a front porch, Michael (MKS), and Rikki (RV Roofing) immediately established what was required in terms of skills, labour time and materials, - all very reassuring.   Roof alterations building 2 new gable ends and new dorma

  Mks carpentry came and priced the job on time price was agreed and they started 6 weeks later,they worked very professionally and extremely quickly they kept my roof covered to stop the rain getting in and finished in 11 days and they all done a wonderful job a huge thank you to the carpenters roofers and scaffolders for a very hassle free perfect job

  Shed building

  I put an ad on check a trade and within a day I had a reply saying they were happy to help - I asked for a specific day and was told this was fine. 8 am knock on the door, 1.5 hours later we have a lovely new shed in place. 10 out of 10 and very polite.
