  Disappointing Experience

  One new roof. Seven months to complete. Three price rises. Six missed completion dates. One disappointed client. I had to invoke the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to try and get the job finished. Even though I had paid £9,900 of the £12,800, and it was agreed that the remainder would be paid on completion, I was threatened that Andy would not return unless I paid another £1,900 as their staff would not be paid because of me, and he had three children to support. All this has been logged with the consumer council, and they advised writing an honest review at the end of the process.

  Professional and Reliable Builder

  Mawhinney Maintenance and Building carried out work for us this summer (2025), creating an open plan kitchen area with a new kitchen. We were very happy with all aspects of the work carried out - Andy and team did a fantastic job (including organising building control) and I have no hesitation in recommending this company for any type of building or renovation work.

  Andy and his team were excellent, they carried out all the repairs to a very high standard, Andy himself is a very talented builder with great knowledge. I can't thank them enough for the work they carried out. Clean and efficient.

  Rebuilding a damaged retaining wall

  Andy was very reliable - came when he said he would. We were very happy with the job he did rebuilding our damaged garden wall. He left the place tidy too. Would definitely recommend Andy.
