    Removed original wall coat rack and replaced with new oak wood 800x145mm rack.

    Matt came on his 1st visit to view the job, which we discussed and he took measurements. He then provided a very clear quote,covering everything we had discussed. On his 2nd visit he brought the oak piece and wanted to check the measurements. When Matt returned to complete the job, he had chamfered the edges of the oak to give it a more bevelled look. He removed the original wall rack, transferred the hooks plus one more matching hook to the new oak piece and positioned to the wall as we discussed, he left the area very clean and tidy. I am extremely pleased with the work that Matt has done.

    To fit two small sections of skirting either side of new hearth.

    I was on a deadline to fit new skirting ahead of decorator starting work. Matt pulled out all the stops to do the job. An excellent job. Highly recommended. Thank you.

    Bespoke pergola

    Had the pleasure of using Matt to create a bespoke pergola for our garden. We had an idea of what we wanted and Matt took the time to listen and work out what would work. He created from scratch the pergola and laid matching pavers to an already fitted patio area. Also created a nice new back gate. Can’t recommend enough, thanks Matt

    New Bathroom

    Matt had already done some work for us which was excellent, so I asked him if he could fit a new bathroom for us. He completely ripped out our old one and fitted a new one. New bath, shower sink and toilet and completely re tiled. He has done a wonderful job. We were able to go away for a few days while he carried out the work. In addition he is a really lovely guy, trustworthy and reliable. I would recommend him 100%

    New wardrobes doors

    I had old fitted wardrobes and Matt took the old doors off and the small cupboards above. He fitted new doors and re-aligned them and made good the old door frames. I was extremely pleased with the finished result. Matt was reliable and so friendly.

Hi, my name is Matt Butler, of Matt Butler Carpentry and Building. I have now been a carpenter for 15 years plus. I was self employed carrying out all types carpentry jobs in the in the early days from first fix, second fix, roofs and kitchens. I then went to work for a Southampton based company in 2005 shop fitting, hotel refurbishment, new build, renovations and extensions. I then became a site manager for the same company working all over the UK, in charge of large projects, wasn't on the tools as much, but was looking after the labours, decorators, plasterers, plumbers, electrician, steel erectors, carpenters, groundworkers , bricklayers and mainly the client. I have now left the company as the travelling was getting too much and I have a young family, I am now back in the Southampton area doing all types of carpentry work decking, doors, door linings, stairs, flooring, windows, kitchens, stud partition, ironmongery, suspended ceiling, metal frame, fences, upvc, fascia and soffit, guttering, roofing, skirting, architraves, shelving, wardrobes and I will source other trades to accommodate your requirements if I cannot do the job myself.
