Mark attended to investigate a leaking soil pipe and odour coming from the toilet. He located our manholes and cleared part of the drain blockage, but charged £380 for a visit lasting around one hour and a job estimated at £85 on the Checkatrade website. The £285 “Trace and Expose” fee and £95 call-out charge were not disclosed beforehand. The odour remained because a blockage between the toilet and first manhole had not been cleared; my husband and son resolved this the next day. Some useful work was completed, but I consider the charge disproportionate and would not use this service again.
Response from Mark Gregory Plumbing
Thank you for the review Amanda!
As stated in messages between ourselves: I attended, investigated and told you the problem.
I was left in the capable hands of your family.
The blockage was removed as they witnessed me checking all work via flushing the toilet to which the water and test papers was flowing correctly. This was tested multiple times.
Involved in our visit we also had to find manholes as they wasn’t visible due to being under gravel and neither occupants didn’t know where they was.
I believe the work carried out was reasonable and reasonable charged.
Have a great day
