  New composite garden fence and artificial grass

  Paid Mark for the materials upfront. He was very hit and miss on turning up and only worked for around 4 hrs a day. I have since seen another review of him working on another job at the same time. The fence was not straight or even inline with the existing fence line. Everything is crooked and badly finished. As for the artificial grass, the ground was not levelled correctly, he didn’t use Type 2 sub base which is the norm for artificial grass. No wooden frame constructed to tension the grass, no jointing tape on the joints. I could go on but just look at the pics. Checkatrade should ban him.

  Landscape garden and pond work

  It was the most horrible experience that I had a breakdown. I contracted Mr Allen in February for a garden & pond project for one year memorial to lay my late husband ashes down. Accepted the job & asked for £400 deposit to secure the booking & day to start.He didn’t turn up on start day & didn’t start the job in May. He asked for payment for materials,I reminded him of my husband memorial on 13/6/25.said he would have it done as it takes 2-3weeks to get it ready. 7/6/25 the job wasn’t ready ,went on holiday & didn’t finish the job. Stole my stones cut the cable line.very traumatic experience

  Mark Allen is a pleasant tradesman who produced a fair estimate arrived on time and completed work to a high standard He carefully discussed the job with us in advance to make certain he knew what was required

  Lifting and relaying patio slabs

  A quote and date to start work given promptly. The patio was lifted and relayed quite quickly, however, the patio was not straight, not level and some slabs wobbly. This was agreed between us and the tradesman, so he re-lifted and relayed the patio for a second time. After relaying for a second time the patio is better but still looks bad. Some slabs are not level, some slabs are not straight and overall it’s an eye sore. Some gaps between the slabs are larger than others too. We are still not happy with the outcome and are looking to sort ourselves.

  Renovating block-paved driveway

  Mark did the block paving of my driveway in 2002 with Marshalls Tegular Drivesets. It has lasted superbly well. However a few rows of blocks have moved slightly over the years, so I asked Mark to return and renovate that small section by lifting the blocks, relaying with the original tight spacing, inserting some extra pieces of block and resanding. This he did during a morning's work and I'm very pleased with the results. Mark also renewed a gatepost for me last autumn. I would highly recommend Mark.

  Putting in a concrete base for a garden shed.

  This is the second garden project Mark has done for us and again we are really happy with the whole experience. Mark is very professional, very helpful and does a great job.
