I served my apprenticeship with a company called Abercorn Builders whilst attending college. I left Abercorn and became self-employed. A big step up for me, I had to adapt quickly, however, I relished every challenge. This proved to be the best way to gain a varied knowledge of construction sites.
In 2003 I undertook work for Avonhill on a self-employed basis where I eventually stayed for 7 years. After just one week the owner approached me and asked to work on building brand new schools in exchange for considerably more money. I was 23 years old and running considerably big projects with colleagues double my age. Apprehensive at first, this has since put me in great stead as I learned quickly how to manage the time constraints involved when working on larger jobs as well as overseeing the details that matter when working in someone's home.
A few years ago, I was approached by the new owner of a large house at a very prestigious address in the town where I live. I renovated the whole house, restored many of its original features in solid wood and helped extend it. This has led to me working on residential projects in people's homes fitting kitchens, windows, hardwood flooring, doors, skirting etc.
At the end of 2014 I decided to join Checkatrade as I have a young family and I am very keen to work closer to home to be more involved in everyday life. Over recent years my wife and kids would be in bed when I went to work and in bed when I got home at night.
I now hope to build up a repeat clientele around central Scotland and look forward to hearing from you.
