All started well having sent the request through Checkatrade, he responded to messages very quickly, really nice guy who came across credible even having not been full time in the plumbing trade having moved into sales roles (still worked on personal projects we were told on the side). The price was good, the availability was acceptable initially (and accepted), information was even forthcoming. Upon a further visit to confirm the fitting date and receiving a £500 deposit request, the date was then slipped out by 5 weeks(!), that may have been possible but confidence was lost and we couldn’t book someone who made us personally lack confidence that it wouldn’t slip again. Once we pulled out and advised us we’d lost confidence, we were blocked on WhatsApp which raised concerns he would also disappear if dissatisfied with the end result. It’s a real shame as we ‘had’ a lot of trust.
Response from GDP Plumbing & Maintenance
I am disappointed with this review as I had not carried out any work. My other reviews clearly highlight my reliability, honesty and integrity. Having been pushed hard for a pre Christmas/early January start date, I mistakenly tried to accommodate but it meant letting someone down. I explained this as soon as I knew (24th November), giving him time to seek alternative arrangements. He expressed his disappointment. No money had exchanged hands and the £500 deposit invoice (requested by him) was immediately cancelled. His Wattsapp messages became very personal, I felt it necessary to block him. He still had my phone number enabling him to text or call. Trying to be honest and upfront with him before fully committing to the job and not letting him down at the last minute, has resulted in a poor review. Hopefully my excellent reviews from customers that I have completed work for are a true indication of my high quality of service and workmanship
