We were robbed by this 'tradesman'. He brought along two inexperienced lads to help him, and left them to get on with it while he sat in the van. The price more than doubled. The job was eventually completed after sunset and he demanded payment immediately, which I foolishly made as I felt intimidated. At first light the next day it was clear that the work was totally inappropriate, there were gaps in the felting and it was the wrong material. I have obtained a County Court Judgement against Mr Bell and am now seeking to reclaim the significant cost of having the work rectified.Verified reviewerJob location: CV21- LLes D

Terrible experience. The guy demanded all the money before the job was completed. In fact there are broken slates hidden on the roof. The roof and guttering was left strewn with debris as was the front garden. The pointing on the ridge tiles is full of large gaps. Job location: CV10I employed trade to do my new roof after he had a look and said it was needed. It was done very quickly after I had paid 50% in advance. He answered my text messages straightaway throughout the time the work was being done. He phoned asking for the rest of the money while the roofers were still there. He hadn't been to check the work. He insisted that I should pay him immediately, I felt bullied and intimidated. I messaged him several times and also emailed him asking for a receipt and confirmation of guarantee, but he has never replied.1.33 THE ROOFER FROM HELL

The workmanship for this company was controlled. I have never had to argue with a man that agreed the job of £1,000 jump to £3,000. Also, he agreed to start right away. As soon as he demanded £3,000 to be paid instantly, I told him I could not afford his prices. I agreed to the job in the first place because the roof was leaking terribly and he had already taken the roof off. He told me he would leave the roof open to the elements until his demands were met. My roof was leaking due to storm damage. Rob got in touch within minutes of job being advertised and advised what needed to be done. The guys came out to my property as agreed and completed the work to a high standard.
