I requested that an EICR was carried out & that all work be done to bring it in line with rental regulations.
I was assured that all work would be carried out before the inspection & a certificate issued so the property was rentable.
This is isn't the case, I was misled by the salesman, they did some work & failed the property & produced a quote for further work but then refused to do it because I complained.
I cant rent my property because of EE incompetence.
Everything was agreed at the survey , i feel throughly conned & let down.
EE have left me with more expense & a house I cant rent
Response from Eastbourne Electrical LLP
We are sorry to hear that the customer is unhappy with our service and would like to clarify several points.
The purpose of an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is to assess the safety of the electrical installation and identify any issues. It is not possible to determine what remedial work is required until the EICR is conducted. This was clearly stated in our quote, which also explained that any necessary remedial works would be priced separately. The customer later confirmed in an email that he did not read the quote.
We did not refuse to carry out further works because of his complaint. Instead, due to his dissatisfaction with our processes, we suggested that an alternative contractor might better meet his expectations. The issues identified in the EICR can be addressed by any qualified electrician, and there is no reason the property cannot be rented once the work is completed.
Our processes align with industry standards, and we strive to ensure transparency and compliance in all our work. We regret any misunderstanding and remain committed to maintaining high standards of service.
