  My substantial driveway gate had been forced open and was hanging off. It had alrready been compromised by kids who kept climbing over the gate to retrieve their football. I thought it was a gonna but it was saved by All Round Fencing who came to assess it the day after my posting. The following day it was rehung and the rotten support post replaced, as was another rotten post for the smaller access gate. It wasn't cheap, but at the same time the garden fencing was repaired in multiple places. All done and dusted by the team in under three hours, and worth it for peace of mind.

  Roof tiles were loose, pointing round the chimney in a bad state, lead flashing above velux window funnelling rainwater in instead of away. Work was completed quickly with no fuss, no stoppages and within estimated budget. Chad and colleague were punctual and polite and explained exactly what needed to be done. This is a very reliable firm.

  Replacement picture window

  Owen and the team were friendly and professional. Measurements for a big picture window were meticulous and the replacement delivered within two weeks. Removing the old frame and fitting the new one took just 20 minutes. No fuss and not a speck of glass from the broken window left behind. Workmanship at its best.

  Professional and thorough, Joe McIntosh identified the cause of the problem that another plumber had missed. He was unhurried, investigating multiple areas to identify the possible fault - and found it. He was honest enough to say the problem was complicated and beyond his remit and that I needed a company dealing with blocked drains. He charged below the call-out estimate. I'd have no hesitation in calling on him again for any future plumbing issues.

  Repositioning the boiler

  A bathroom makeover meant the boiler had to be moved. While others faffed around, Ricky Nunn-Hammond impressed with his can-do attitude. He explained what he needed to do, how he would do it, how long the job would take and what it would cost. All of it came in on the nail. He's a man who enjoys his work and is highly professional with it. He was punctual, worked through without a break and kept the inevitable disruption to a minimum. He was as cheerful at the end of a long day as at the beginning. You couldn't ask for more.

  Boiler problem

  Nigel Stephens arrived at the end of his working day in answer to a panic call over a problem re-pressuring the boiler and Day 3 of no heating or hot water. A small job that some in the trade wouldn't look at. Polite and cheery, he arrived when he said he would and sorted it all out.

  Furniture moving in Littlehampton

  These guys are AMAZING. They turned up on the same day I called them, arriving bang on time. They were so cheerful and polite as they worked - incredibly quickly - it was a pleasure to meet them. They took a sofa to an upholsterer in Hove and managed to manoeuvre this wide piece of furniture through a narrow front door without damage and no rolling eyes and sighs. Then they swapped two other sofas and an armchair between two different rooms 'in house'. The price was very reasonable and I'd have no hesitation calling them again.. .

  It didn't take long to prove the worth of Paul and Sam Potter's gutter repair. Less than 48 hours later it withstood a torrential rain storm. Potter father and son are meticulous and professional in their work. They arrived at short notice and kept to budget. I would have no hesitation in employing their skills again.

  This is the second time I have used this firm and can say this is a first-class outfit. Charges are fair and reasonable and every care is taken with items being moved. All done with a smile and, in my case, with great patience as circumstances kept changing. Three cheers.
